- What Is Binge Drinking? Binge alcohol use is defined as drinking five or more drinks on the same occasion on at least 1 day in the past 30 days (from the National Survey on Drug Use and Health [NSDUH]). Heavy drinking is defined as binge drinking on at least 5 days in the past month.
- Infants born with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome have: smaller heads and brains, some degree of mental retardation, poor coordination, hyperactivity and abnormal facial features.
- In order for alcohol to significantly lower testosterone, a person would have to drink 120 grams of alcohol, which is equivalent to 10 beers; this amount will lower testosterone by over 20%, for up to 16 hours after the binge drinking episode, according to a recent government medical study.
- According to national surveys, approximately 92% of U.S. adults who drink excessively report binge drinking in the past 30 days.
